House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) sharply criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, labeling him a "progressive nut bag" and "gym teacher activist" in a recent interview. Emmer, who represents Minnesota's 6th congressional district, argued that Walz's potential nomination would be a boon for Republicans. He criticized Walz's response to various issues, including his handling of the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis. Emmer blamed Walz for failing to control the unrest, which led to widespread looting and the destruction of a police precinct.
