MN Rep. Tom Emmer Blasts Progressive ‘Nut Bag’ Tim Walz

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) sharply criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, labeling him a "progressive nut bag" and "gym teacher activist" in a recent interview. Emmer's comments came as speculation mounts over Walz being considered as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate for the 2024 election.

During his appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Emmer didn't hold back, expressing his disdain for Walz's governance style, which he described as overly progressive and detrimental to Minnesota. "This guy has governed like a Minneapolis liberal. He is so progressive, and quite frankly, if he is the pick, it’s because Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren won the day," Emmer said.

Emmer, who represents Minnesota's 6th congressional district, argued that Walz's potential nomination would be a boon for Republicans. He criticized Walz's response to various issues, including his handling of the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis. Emmer blamed Walz for failing to control the unrest, which led to widespread looting and the destruction of a police precinct.

Furthermore, Emmer attacked Walz's stance on energy policies and border security, aligning him closely with the controversial decisions made by Harris and other progressive leaders. "Tim Walz hasn’t spoken out against the open border down south.

He hasn’t talked about the fact that it was Kamala Harris and all the Democrats that voted for this incredible spending spree at the beginning of the Biden administration," Emmer stated, criticizing the resulting inflation and economic issues.

Emmer also drew a stark contrast between Walz and Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance. He asserted that Vance, with his strong resume and intellectual background, would decisively outperform Walz in any debate. "JD Vance actually has a resume, has a background, is bright. This Tim Walz is a gym teacher activist," Emmer remarked, emphasizing Vance's superior qualifications and experience.

The Minnesota congressman also referenced Walz's involvement in delaying the virtual nomination of President Biden, suggesting it was part of a broader strategy to accommodate protests and uncommitted delegates. This move, Emmer argued, exemplified Walz's political maneuvering and lack of leadership.

Emmer's comments reflect a broader Republican strategy to capitalize on perceived weaknesses in Democratic leadership as the 2024 election approaches. By painting Walz as an ineffective and overly progressive leader, Republicans aim to galvanize their base and sway undecided voters.
